“We are increasing access to healthcare for women by taking the novel approach of offering a mammography at the time of an annual gynecological visit,” said Dr. Robert Rubino, founder of The Rubino OB/GYN Group. “Our internal survey showed that the inconvenience of taking additional time off was a barrier to getting a mammogram. That surprising data compelled us to press forward with a mammography center in our office. By offering 3D mammography on-site, we are ensuring that comprehensive care and screening is part of the annual checkup for each patient who needs it.”

3D mammograms are considered one of the most dependable tools available to diagnose breast cancer at the earliest stages and can greatly lower a woman’s risk. Breast cancer does not often present symptoms, however, early indicators can include any change in the size or the shape of the breast, pain in any area of the breast, nipple discharge other than breast milk (including blood), and a lump in the breast or underarm.

The chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer increase with age. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Scheduling an annual mammogram is an important part of a woman’s healthcare plan to ensure optimal health.
