WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Thursday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi. No new deaths were recorded.
A day earlier, Parisi reported on his Facebook page that there were no new cases on Wednesday. That was the first day since the pandemic began in March that no new cases were reported. There have been 15 new confirmed cases of the virus in West Orange in the last six days.
The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,388. Deaths are included in the "total intake" number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 173.
Three township residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, each of them in intensive care. There were 413 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 902 recovered and closed cases, and a total of 5,108 negative test results.
Essex County reported 45 new cases of the virus overnight, for a total of 18,653 cases of COVID-19 in the county. There have been 74,007 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,772 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
