WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were four additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Thursday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.

Of the six new cases in the township over the last two days, four of them have been between the ages of 17 and 21. The other two new cases over that stretch are 93 and 82 years old.

The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,446, with no additional deaths reported on Tuesday. Deaths are included in the "total intake" number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 184.

Two residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, with one in intensive care. There were 149 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 1,221 recovered and closed cases.

Essex County reported a total of 19,236 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, an increase of seven overnight. There have been 106,227 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,838 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
