WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were no additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Wednesday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.
As August concluded, it was the month with the lowest incidences of new coronavirus cases in the township since the start of the pandemic in March.
Parisi reported that there was an average of 1.68 new confirmed COVID-19 cases per day in August in West Orange. By comparison, the daily average was 28.2 new cases per day in April, 9.68 in May, 3.38 in June and 2.26 in July.
The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,516, but there were only 33 current active cases in West Orange as of Wednesday. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 186. There was one coronavirus-related death reported in West Orange in the month of August.
A total of 9,745 residents have tested negative for the virus.
Essex County reported 22 new confirmed virus cases on Wednesday, for a total intake of 20,151 cases since the start of the pandemic. There have been 148,607 negative test results in Essex County, and 1,867 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
