WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Friday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi. One new death was recorded.
An 81-year-old West Orange resident died from the virus on June 27, bringing the total number of deaths in the township attributed to the coronavirus to 175.
"Our sympathies to the families and all those impacted by this virus," Parisi said in a post on his Facebook page.
The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,400. Deaths are included in the "total intake" number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. Three township residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, one of them in intensive care. There were 310 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 1,016 recovered and closed cases, and a total of 5,938 negative test results.
