WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Goddard School in West Orange is set to officially open in the coming weeks, and to help celebrate the new addition to the area, on-site owner Nicole Harrison is inviting members of the community to a grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 5 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The 8,800-square-foot building will serve about 136 children ages six weeks to 6 years old and will employ about 26 faculty members.
Harrison, who says that she always had a passion for working with children, received her bachelor’s degree in health education and public health from Montclair State University, coached high school girls’ soccer and worked as a physical education and health teacher.
As a mother of four who saw the developmental benefits her two youngest sons experienced while attending a Goddard School, Harrison said whe wanted other area families to have access to "the same high-quality early childhood education as her children."
“We want to deliver the best child care and educational programming to families of West Orange and the surrounding areas in a safe and nurturing environment,” Harrison said. “At The Goddard School in West Orange, it’s important for us to become imbedded in the surrounding communities to find ways to positively contribute to the growth and development of our area’s youth.”
The Goddard School offers a unique play-based F.L.EX. Learning Program (Fun Learning Experience) that is based on research that has found that children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun. The focus at The Goddard School is on building each child's emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills to provide a well-rounded experience and ensure each one becomes confident, joyful and fully prepared in school and in life.
The newest preschool will be open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
