BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Officers of the Bloomfield Police Department responded to Spring Street after 8 p.m. on Thursday after reports of shots fired in the area.

Police blocked Spring Street from the intersection of Spring and Division Street south. (Spring Street runs from St. Valentine's Church to the area of Oakes Pond.)

According to neighbors who were watching the police activity, there were two initial shots fired, followed by five shots. Residents of the area, who wished to remain anonymous, all reported that the police response was "very fast." They also indicated that no one was shot, but these details have not been confirmed with the Bloomfield Police Department.

The Bloomfield Public Safety Director told TAPinto Bloomfield that the department was "in the early investigative stages" and would provide an update "when all facts are obtained."
