MONTCLAIR, NJ -  The body of a 67-year-old man was recovered in upper Montclair on Friday morning near Toney's Brook in the area of upper Mountain Avenue training station.

Responding officers suspect that the man may have suffered from a medical emergency while walking toward the bus stop around 11 p.m. Thursday night.

According to Sgt. Terrence Turner of the Montclair Police Department, a passerby reported seeing a man lying face down in an embankment by the Bellevue Avenue parking lot.

"He was located in an area that would not have been visible by someone driving through the parking lot," he said.

The Montclair Fire Department and Montclair Ambulance Unit assisted with recovering the man because the steep embankment and the weather made it difficult to get to him.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was taken to the Regional Medical Examiners Office pending an autopsy. The man's identity is being withheld at this time.
