WEST ORANGE, NJ — In order to raise money toward the West Orange Mayor's Sunshine Fund, which has recently taken on greater responsibility in response to the global health crisis, West Orange High School (WOHS) football coach Darnell Grant is currently selling T-shirts and pullover sweatshirts featuring a logo designed by assistant coach Andrew Mazurek.

In less than a week, this initiative has raised more than $8,000, which the township has said will “go a long way in helping our neighbors that are experiencing challenges as a result of the virus.”

The Mayor's Sunshine Fund, which was created many years ago as a charitable arm of the local government, has been providing daily meals and financial support to many residents in need.

Over the last few decades, the Mayor's Sunshine Fund has also been routinely providing Thanksgiving dinner for nearly 200 families and Christmas presents for nearly 300 children each year.

It has also provided assistance to families displaced by fires or hurricanes and has given temporary relief to residents experiencing financial challenges.
