WEST ORANGE, NJ — Faculty members from the West Orange Public Schools (WOPS) Music Department will show off their talents at the 19th annual WOPS Music Faculty Scholarship Concert on Feb. 12 at Liberty Middle School beginning at 7 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held on Feb. 18 at the same time and location.

The public is invited to attend for free, but donations are encouraged, as all proceeds benefit the WOPS Music Scholarship Fund.

Speaking on behalf of the entire music department, WOPS Fine Arts Supervisor Louis Quagliato said that the district’s music educators “are wonderful musicians and performers” and urged the community to attend.

“You never lose the love and passion for music and those who come back year after year to be a part of this concert want to express and share that love,” he said. “Each year, the teachers select music that they feel passionate about.  Some enjoy classical music; others love the music of the theater. I for one have always enjoyed playing Jazz. So, this has become quite a variety concert.”

Although he hasn’t been able to attend the other rehearsals, Quagliato said that the final performances promise to be “pretty impressive.”

“If you are looking for something to do on a weeknight and want to have a great time, come out and join us in this annual family tradition of musical excellence,” he said. “This concert may very well be the best one yet.”
