WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were four additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Thursday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.
The total number of West Orange intake of cases was 1,290. Deaths are included in this number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. Fifteen residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, and, of them, three were in intensive care. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange remained at 158. There were 541 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 684 recovered and closed cases.
Essex County reported a total of 17,516 cases of COVID-19 Thursday, an increase of 81 overnight, with 36,751 negative test results. There have been 1,636 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
In New Jersey, an additional 1,187 coronavirus cases Thursday brought the total in the state to 157,815, according to the state Department of Health. The number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of late Monday was 2,797, a slight increase for the second consecutive day.
