WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were two additional COVID-19 cases in West Orange confirmed on Thursday, as the number of cases termed “current active” fell to 41, the fewest since the second week of spring.
The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,484, according to Mayor Robert Parisi. Deaths are included in the "total intake" number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. There have been 8,853 negative test results for COVID-19 among West Orange residents.
The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 186. One West Orange resident was currently hospitalized with COVID-19. That patient is not in intensive care.
The township reports that there have been 1,364 recovered and closed cases.
Essex County reported a total of 19,831 cases of COVID-19 Thursday. There have been 132,617 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,865 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
