WEST ORANGE, NJ -- West Orange reported 36 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.

There were no additional COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange, which has had 76 residents pass away from coronavirus-related illnesses. Parisi reported on his Facebook page that the total number of recovered and closed cases in the township has risen to 57.

There are 650 current active cases of the virus in West Orange Sunday. Nineteen residents remain hospitalized and of them, including five who are in ICU. There have been 540 tests for the coronavirus in West Orange that came back negative.

Across Essex County, there have been 10,309 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Sunday at 9 a.m. The county reports 739 deaths that have been associated with the coronavirus. In Essex County, 7,239 COVID-19 tests have come back negative.

Statewide, there is a total of 85,301 cases, an increase of 3,881 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 4.202, an increase of 132 overnight, according to the State Department of Health. Statewide there have been 85.387 negative test results.
