WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were five additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Sunday, according to data provided by Mayor Robert Parisi.

The total of COVID-19 related deaths stands at 156 in West Orange, which had no new fatalities associated with the coronavirus reported on Sunday. West Orange has had a total intake of 1,276 cases. Deaths are included in this number and remain "active" cases until a full investigation is complete. Fourteen residents remain hospitalized and, of them, three were in intensive care.

There have been 2,207 tests for COVID-19 that have registered as negative in West Orange. There have been 619 recovered and closed cases in the township, and there are 598 current active cases.

Essex County reported a total of 17,214 cases of COVID-19 Sunday, with 32,032 negative test results. There have been 1,600 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.

In New Jersey, an additional 1,050 coronavirus cases Sunday brought the total in the state to 154,154, according to the state Department of Health. The most recent three-day average of new cases is 894, a 55 percent drop from the three-day average of new cases just two weeks ago. The number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of late Saturday was 2,857, an 18 percent drop in just six days.
