WEST ORANGE, NJ -- An 18-month-old township child was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital Thursday afternoon after nearly drowning.
According to a spokeman for West Orange Township, the West Orange Fire Department responded to a report of a child on Winding Way as a possible drowning victim. According to Chief Anthony Vecchio of the WOFD, family members began rescue efforts prior to emergency response. These efforts enabled the child to resume breathing by the time the WOFD arrived.
The child was transported to the hospital. The child's current condition as of Friday afternoon is not known.
