WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Police Department has responded to a number of reports of theft in the township this month.
According to police reports provided by the department, two incidents just days apart were reported on Prospect Avenue.
A woman reported that her wallet was stolen on Aug. 6 at a place of business on Prospect Avenue where she had an appointment. She returned home from the appointment that morning to discover that her wallet was missing, then discovered three days later that someone attempted to use her health insurance card to pay for a prescription at a local pharmacy. In addition to her personal identification, about $100 was missing from the wallet, according to police.
In a separate incident, a man reported that at around 2 p.m. on Aug. 9, his Garmin Z80 Golf Laser Range Finder was stolen while it was being charged in the lounge area of the men's locker room at the golf course on Prospect Avenue. The range finder is reported to be valued at approximately $600, according to police.
On Aug. 12, a package was reported stolen from a Franklin Avenue location following a UPS delivery of a Sprint iPhone 8 to a residence at 5:08 p.m. while the resident was not home. When he arrived home from work, the man noticed that the package that had been left on his doorstep was missing, according to police.
Police also reported that an automobile charger was missing from a Fairway Avenue residence on Aug. 6. A woman told police that a BMW Turbo Cord charger that was plugged into an outside outlet was stolen between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day.
