WEST ORANGE, NJ — Although shelter-in-place orders due to COVID-19 in New Jersey have changed what celebrating Easter this year will look like, The Life Christian Church (TLCC) in West Orange is planning a virtual worship experience for Easter Sunday with special guest appearances from two Broadway stars.
In order to help mark the significance of the day on the Christian calendar, Ginna Claire Mason, who plays Glinda in “Wicked,” and Haven Burton, who has starred in the casts of “Rent,” “Shrek The Musical” and “Legally Blonde,” have agreed to be a part of Sunday’s services.
“Easter is a time meant for celebration, a time when we remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” said Terry Smith, lead pastor and founder of TLCC. “We’re turning any disappointment of circumstances into a celebration of hope for the world.”
TLCC will stream four live services at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. that will also include music performed by the church’s worship band and a hope-filled message by Pastor Smith.
“We may need to be separated physically, but that won’t stop us from coming together spiritually,” said Smith. “We want our neighbors to know they’re not alone and that everyone is welcome to join with us online.”
In addition to these services, which will be available at www.TLCC.org, the West Orange church also launched a full video broadcast platform that offers a variety of programming from Monday through Friday beginning at 7 a.m. daily.
