WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The West Orange football team solidified its bid for a North Jersey, Group 5 playoff berth with a 39-0 victory over Bloomfield on Friday night.

Shaki Carson rushed for two touchdowns and 90 yards on just six carries for the Mountaineers (5-3), who built a 32-0 lead by halftime.

Jehki Williams rushed for 55 yards and a TD on six carries and Makhi Green needed just two carries to break away for 95 yards for West Orange. Quarterback Mason Murdock completed four of six passes for 90 yards and a TD.

Middle linebacker Chris Parsons and strong safety Adonis May each totaled 12 tackles for West Orange, and Ian Hawkins and Jahmil St. Pierre each intercepted a pass for the Mountaineers, whose defense shut out an opponent through four quarters for the third time this season.

Unofficially, West Orange right now is in ninth position among the 16 North Jersey, Group 5 teams that would qualify for the playoffs. West Orange will host Barringer next Friday at 7 p.m. Playoff seedings will become official next Sunday.
