WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The West Orange football team turned in another dominant defensive performance Friday night to defeat Paterson Kennedy, 14-6, in the home opener.

Quarterback Mason Murdock passed for two touchdowns for the Mountaineers (2-0), who were playing six night after beating Montclair, 29-6, on opening night at Rutgers University. Murdock threw scoring passes of 18 yards to Jason Raines and 20 yards to Aymin Hanks.

Murdock now has four TD passes and the defense has allowed 12 total points in the first two games. West Orange's next game will present a huge challenge for new head coach Darnell Grant: On the road in Ramsey next Friday night against Don Bosco Prep.
