In 1984 the two West Orange high schools of the Mountain Rams and West Orange Cowboys were combined to become today's West Orange Mountaineers. The baseball team took a nostalgic look back on May 22-23 by wearing throwback uniforms of the two schools on consecutive nights.

Former player standouts from both schools were also honored in brief ceremonies before each game. The original Mountain HS banner which is nearly 60 years old was displayed by West Orange Township Historian Joseph Fagan prior to the game remembering Mountain HS.

Principal Hayden Moore posed with Fagan and the historic Mountain Rams banner before the game. Coach Zichella also lined up the Mountaineer team in their Mountain HS uniforms with the banner in the background.

Fagan explained in pre-game remarks that the banner was in exile for four decades before making a triumphant return to its place of origin. It was the school's original banner that had been used during sporting events dating to 1962. A similar banner representing the West Orange Cowboys once existed but is believed to be lost.

Both the Rams and Cowboys are now part of the official logo representing today's West Orange High School Mountaineers.
