FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ -- Denae Hill from West Orange finished first in her event as the Mountaineers' girls track team finished eighth overall out of 32 teams at the NJSIAA Group 4 meet last weekend at Franklin High School.

HIll came in first in the shot put with a throw of 41-03.25. In addition to her gold medal, West Orange junior Abigail Vital finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09, after she had finished first in the heats with a time of 14.25.

The West Orange 4x100 meter team of Isyss Covin, Bryanna Jackson-Dickens, Nai'a Peterson and Vital came in second place with a time of 47.82.

Covin, a sophomore, was seventh in the 200-meter dash at 25.02 and eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.35. Andree Celestin, also a sophomore, placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.97.

Other West Orange top 10 finishers in their events were Karen Odoemene, who came in eighth in the discus with a throw of 111-10.00, and Olivia Prescott, whose discus throw of 108-08.00 placed her 10th in the same event.
