WEST ORANGE, NJ — The record-setting West Orange girls soccer team was honored with eight selections to the Super Essex Conference (SEC) All-American Division team, as selected by coaches. Three Mountaineers were named to the first team, including Natalie Nevins, Nyah Harper and Morgan Clark.
Nevins, a junior midfielder, led West Orange in both goals (17) and assists (21). Harper, a senior back, scored 10 goals and had two assists. Clark, a senior midfielder, contributed three assists.
Senior back Mya Bembry, sophomore midfielder Kaya Schultz and sophomore center forward Emma Mitchell were all named to the division's Second Team from the Mountaineers, who finished 19-1-2 and won their first Essex County Tournament championship and their first Section 1, Group 4 title.
Honorable mention went to West Orange players Hannah Villasin and Tori Rideau-Winds, who also helped the Mountaineers extend their unbeaten streak to 38 games before falling to Bridgewater-Raritan in the Group 4 state semifinal.
