ESSEX COUNTY, NJ -- West Orange has drawn the 13th seed for the Essex County boys basketball tournament, which gets under way with preliminary games this week.
The Mountaineers have a bye until the third preliminary round, which will be contested on or before Feb. 8. West Orange would play Millburn, Newark Academy or Technology in that round.
Montclair Immaculate is the top seed.
The Livingston boys basketball team, seeded 22nd, will face the winner of a preliminary game between Science Park and Montclair-Kimberley in a second-round preliminary game that will be played by Saturday, Feb. 1.
Caldwell, seeded 18th, will host Eagle Academy in a preliminary round game and, if the Chiefs advance, they will play at 15th-seeded Orange in the second round, on or before Feb. 1.
West Essex, seeded 25th, will visit 24th-seeded Glen Ridge in a first-round preliminary game, with the Knights slated to play at Newark University in a second-round preliminary game slated for Feb. 1 or earlier if they beat Glen Ridge.
The tournament is slated to conclude with the championship game Feb. 22 at West Orange High School.
