WESTFIELD, NJ — Seventeen Westfield High School student-athletes signed national letters of intent last week to play next year for colleges and universities.

Among the girls, Whitney Shyposh committed to crew at Rutgers University; Muriel Maloney will swim for Monmouth University; Sydney Paoletti will play lacrosse for Columbia University; Catherine Moriarty will play lacrosse for the University of Florida; Natalie Bond will play lacrosse for Stanford University; Molly Ryan will play basketball for Tufts University; Melina McDevitt will play soccer for Tufts University; Kylinn Kraemer will play soccer for Montclair State University; Grace Elliott will play soccer for the University of Scranton; and Stephanie Borr will play volleyball for Brandeis University.

Among the boys, Eric Bebel will swim for Bryant University; Ryan Bebel will swim for the College of William & Mary; Sam Pugliese will play lacrosse for Jacksonville University; Luke Hunziker will play boys lacrosse for Colgate University; Pat McIlroy  will play lacrosse for Lehigh University; Mark Walter will play soccer for Muhlenberg College; and Dan Sokolin will play soccer for Dickinson College.

“These student-athletes demonstrate a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the athletic surfaces,” Westfield Athletic Directory Sandra Mamary said. “Their dedication and passion is evident and the Westfield School District is very proud of them. Our coaches work tirelessly within each program and the Tradition of Athletic Excellence continues.”
