WESTFIELD, NJ — Mayor Shelley Brindle posted the following update on her Facebook page Saturday evening:

STORM & OUTAGE UPDATE: 3/10 as of 6 p.m.

PSE&G is reporting 200 customers still without power and they are projecting many should be restored by ‪midnight tonight with the remainder by ‪9:30 p.m. tomorrow. PSE&G advises they have multiple tree and power line crews in Westfield and they are working through the night.

There are still 30 roads or sections of roads closed due to downed wires, as well as felled trees in some cases. Most of these streets are waiting on PSE&G crews to arrive to address the downed wires before our DPW crews are allowed to clear and reopen them; others are waiting on Verizon or Comcast.

In all cases PSE&G, Verizon and Comcast have been informed of the need to respond.

We will be doing a one-time curb pickup for branches and brush once the DPW crews have attended to all danger areas. Details to be provided in the next few days.

I know these are trying times for those still without power, especially without knowing a specific time for restoration. Please know that you are not forgotten and we continue to press PSE&G for immediate and timely restoration.
