Four Westfield High School seniors have been named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program. They are: Jeffrey Marino, Andres Chang, Eric Oberman, and Eric Mikalauskas. The seniors were presented certificates of achievement by Board of Education Vice President Rosanne Kurstedt at the public meeting on April 9.
Dr. Kurstedt noted that their extraordinary accomplishment is a tribute to Westfield High School, which is rooted in a tradition of academic excellence. According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the nationwide pool of finalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Dr. Kurstedt told the students that they have proven themselves on a national level, and that the Westfield Board of Education applauds their hard work, achievement, and commitment to education, and wished the seniors continued success.
