WESTFIELD, NJ — Four Westfield High School seniors have advanced to finalist standing in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship program, the Westfield public school district announced Monday.

The finalists are Ryan Q. Dang, Sarah N. Steiner, Nova L. Qi and Albert A. Chen.

The program honors students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Approximately one percent of students who take the Preliminary SAT test qualify for National Merit Finalist status, according to Westfield Public Schools. These students are the highest scoring entrants and are eligible to apply for National Merit scholarships.
