WESTFIELD, NJ – After a court-mandated closure that lasted about a year, the popular restaurant and bar Addams Tavern has reopened.
A state court had ordered the restaurant shut over safety violations, but on Dec. 3 ruled that those violations were no longer to the extent that the establishment needed to remain closed.
On Thursday, Downtown Westfield, the entity managing the municipality’s Special Improvement District, reported on Facebook that Addams Tavern is open.
A manager for the restaurant had estimated that the establishment would open Friday, but it appears the eatery is open a day ahead of that estimate.
Earlier this week, Mayor Shelley Brindle was optimistic about the anticipated opening, and other businesses slated to come to town.
“I am thrilled to learn that Addams Tavern is re-opening this week just in time for the holidays,” Brindle said. “In the near future, we will also see the following businesses open: Atlantic Health, Bareburger, Buddha Sushi, Cinnaholic, Innovasion Taco, Osteo Strong, Orgreen Poke, Portokali Modern Grill, and Signature Realty.”
