Lynn Gaines Shereshewsky, quilter and fiber artist will be featured at the Harvest Quilters of Central NJ’s 32nd annual quilt show on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Willow Grove Church, Scotch Plains, NJ, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Her three decade journey as a quilter will be the focus of the display including bed and lap sized quilts employing traditional cottons, rich batiks and one-of-a-kind hand dyed fabrics.
Guests will be treated to a work in progress crafted from Japanese kimono fabric, complimented by silks from China, Korea, Loas and India. A stunning Chuppah designed and made for her daughter’s wedding will certainly be a highlight.
Shereshewsky’s fiber art will also take center stage with samples of felting, whimsical toys and wearable pieces. Her unique modern art quilts stretch the boundaries of what typically defines a quilt.
“I love the variety offered in quilting - all types of fabric and design techniques have found a place in my work,” said Ms. Shereshewsky, a first place winner locally, county-wide and “favorite of show” at the Union County Senior Art Show.
A professional speech pathologist, the 49-year resident of Westfield has both a BS and MA from Kean University. Born in the Bronx and raised in Hillside, the mother of two and grandmother of four, has traveled the world with her late husband.
