WESTFIELD, NJ — Vandals hit the bandstand in Mindowaskin Park this week, removing a literature drop box and spray painting the post it was attached to, drawing male genitalia on some of the columns and splashing what appears to be brown paint on the floor.

The missing drop box had been paid for by The Friends of Mindowaskin Park, according to the organization’s president, Debby Burslem. She said that the lucite box alone was valued at $80.

“They had to have taken it and twisted it, because the metal was twisted,” Burslem said.

Westfield police said that there is no further information at this time with regard to suspects.
