CLARK, NJ — Benjamin Moore recently announced its much-anticipated “Color of the Year” for 2017. It’s called “Shadow” and it is currently available at Paper Chase Decorating Center in Clark.

“'Shadow' is dark and mysterious,” Paper Chase interior designer June Marie Sandy said. “It perfectly complements today’s modern grey and taupe color trends.”

The deep, royal amethyst color headlines Benjamin Moore’s “Color Trends 2017” collection, a group of 23 paint colors the company calls “rich and sophisticated.” The company conducts research through international industry shows and considers architecture, fashion,  textiles, home furnishings and the arts in determining its annual color trend palette, the company said in a statement about the unveiling.

"Shadow is the perfect purple color for creating a dramatic ambiance,” Sandy said. “It’s a majestic, muted-purple jewel tone that will add intrigue and a dramatic flair to otherwise boring spaces."

Pint samples of “Shadow” (and all of Benjamin Moore’s 3,500 colors) are available for those wanting to give the new color a try.  Sandy is happy to consult with store patrons who want to add some color to their world.

Why We Keep Kosher

Why We Keep Kosher

This week's parshah, Shemini, introduces the Torah's dietary laws. Animals must chew their cud and have split hooves to be kosher, fish need fins and scales, and a list of forbidden fowl is enumerated.

To those of us in Jewish education, it is a continuing source of disappointment that so many Jews still believe the kosher laws to be outdated.
