Bohemian Raspberry, the frozen yogurt and coffee shop located at 219 South Avenue in Westfield, will be donating 15 percent of all proceeds to suicide prevention hotline CONTACT We Care the first Sunday of each month, beginning June 1. Patrons will simply need to mention the hotline’s name to ensure the donation.

CONTACT We Care is a suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline as well as a suicide prevention and Mental Health First Aid trainer located in Westfield. Volunteer listeners and texters trained in empathetic listening answer more than 17,000 calls for help every year. A donation of just $15 to the hotline pays for one call.

Donations from Bohemian Raspberry will help keep listeners and texters on the lines for those calls.

“Every 13.7 minutes someone in the United States dies by suicide, including 4,600 young people, and for every one suicide there are 25 attempts,” said Joanne Oppelt, CONTACT executive director. “It is vital that people in crisis have someplace to call where they can find an empathetic ear to help them see they have options.

“Suicide and emotional crises touch so many people, including our loved ones, friends and neighbors. This is a community issue and we are so appreciative to have the support of a community merchant such as Bohemian Raspberry to help in our efforts.”

Bohemian Raspberry serves 16 frozen yogurt, ice cream and sorbet flavors daily, hot and cold espresso drinks, fresh fruit smoothies and pastries from Balthazar Bakery. Believing that people should be able to enjoy something sweet while being health-conscious, the shop’s yogurts are low-calorie, full of probiotics, made with the highest quality ingredients and Kosher-certified. They also offer all-natural sorbets and ice cream flavors. Bohemian Raspberry’s gourmet coffee beverages are made with 100 percent Arabica beans.
