Boys Swimming: Rivals Westfield, SP-F Finish 1-2 in Union County Championships

Raider Alan Shao won the 100 Butterfly at the Union County Championship Sunday.

PISCATAWAY, NJ — At a meet that featured two of the top-rated teams in the state, Westfield swam to victory in the Union County championships on Sunday at Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils totaled 459 points, while Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished second with 378. They were followed by 3) Summit, 4) Gov. Livingston, 5) Oratory, 6) New Providence, 7) Union, 8) Cranford, 9) Elizabeth and 10) A.L. Johnson (Clark).

Westfield set county records in three relay events: 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Individually, David Lindros won the 100 Backstroke.

For the Raiders, Josh Cohen broke his own County record in the 500 Freestyle and also won the 200 Freestyle. Chris Bondarowicz took the 200 IM and the 200 Breaststroke, and Alan Shao finished first in the 100 Butterfly.

Kai Legband of Union set a new County record for the 100 Freestyle and also won the 50 Freestyle.
