PERTH AMBOY, NJ — When the Westfield boys swim team beat Bridgewater-Raritan in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Public A final Friday, 94-76, it was a hard-fought meet against a quality opponent, according to head coach Jeffrey Knight.

“Bridgewater-Raritan, ranked number four in the state coming in, is traditionally a fantastic and well-prepared team and we knew that we had to bring our best,” Knight said. “It was a workman-like performance and we took their best shots along the way, but were able to use our depth as an advantage and move on to the next round. I am proud of all of our guys because they truly poured their guts out for that win.”

Knight added, “Guys like Eric Bebel, Colin Daniel, David Lindros, Ryan Daniel, Austin Kreusser, Walter Sincox and Steve Warren showed up in a big way today, but then again so did the rest of the team.”

It was one of the top 15 relays in WHS history, "and a B relay!" Knight said.

Why We Keep Kosher

Why We Keep Kosher

This week's parshah, Shemini, introduces the Torah's dietary laws. Animals must chew their cud and have split hooves to be kosher, fish need fins and scales, and a list of forbidden fowl is enumerated.

To those of us in Jewish education, it is a continuing source of disappointment that so many Jews still believe the kosher laws to be outdated.
