Call for Art From High School Students for Gallery U Exhibit in May

GALLERY U in Westfield, NJ, is celebrating the creativity of local high school students in May 2016. We are currently seeking artwork by Union, Essex & Somerset County high school students to be included in the exhibit STUDENT LIFE. All mediums, sizes, styles and formats are accepted. Submission guidelines are available at http://gallery-u.blogspot.com or by calling 908-232-1895. There is no fee to participate. Submissions accepted until April 11, 2016.

Union, Essex & Somerset Counties house a number of talented youth ready to let their creative ideas loose onto the world. Gallery U in Westfield, NJ, is looking to facilitate this process by offering local high school students a unique opportunity to showcase their talents through the exhibition Student Life: Artwork By Union, Essex & Somerset County High School Students.

This special exhibition will be comprised of artwork of various mediums and styles by high school students in Union, Essex and Somerset Counties. 50% of the proceeds for artwork sold will paid to the student artist and 50% will be donated to the art department of the high school the artist represents. Student Life will be on exhibit through June 6, 2016.

This is the fourth year that Gallery U has curated Student Life. Students who have participated in this exhibition in the past have gone on to attend art schools throughout the country. Exhibiting in Student Life offers participants the unique opportunity to have their work seen in a professional gallery setting and greatly enhances college applications and resumes.

Union, Essex and Somerset County high school students who would like to participate in the exhibition are encouraged to submit artwork by April 11, 2016. Students in public and private instructional settings qualify. Submission guidelines may be found on the Gallery U website at http://gallery-u.blogspot.com/p/student-life.html. All mediums, sizes, styles and formats are accepted. All are welcome and encouraged to attend the opening reception on May 6, 2016, from 6-8 PM. 

About GALLERY U: Gallery U is owned by Universal Institute, a rehabilitation center for adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Gallery U acts as an extension of UI’s vocational training program which helps bring TBI clients back into the workforce and community through their daily operational work at Gallery U. They hold monthly group art exhibitions and work closely with the community on various events throughout the year. Gallery U is located at 438 South Ave West, Westfield, NJ.
