The crash happened at 6:04 a.m., said Union County acting Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo in a press release, which identified the victim.

People who knew Leinbach said he lived in a nearby apartment complex and crossed the intersection each morning to get a cup of coffee, Bonaccorso said.

Raritan Road was closed between Westfield and Central Avenues for several hours while Clark Police, Union County Police and the Union County Homicide Task Force investigated.
