The College Woman’s Club of Westfield invites all area women to their annual fall get-together on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The event is free to prospective members and will include a vendor shopping night with all proceeds to benefit the CWC scholarship fund. Guests will have an opportunity to meet fellow members and hear about upcoming events that support the club’s mission to further higher education for women.
Founded in 1917, the College Woman’s Club awards over $50,000 in scholarships each year to young women from Westfield on the basis of academics, leadership and financial need. The club’s intergenerational membership meets periodically throughout the year for social and fundraising purposes. CWC also sponsors several interest groups, including book clubs, bridge, current events discussion groups, and museum visits.
“As we enter our 101st year, we look forward to introducing the great legacy of the College Woman’s Club to potential new members,” said Jeanne Marie Ryan, CWC president. “Whether you are new to the community or a longtime resident, CWC is a great way to socialize and network with a wonderful group of women in support of a very worthy cause.”
CWC membership is open to all area women with a college degree. Dues are $60 ($35 for seniors and educators), half of which goes to support the scholarship program.
