Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold a comedy night and auction on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature nationally-known comedian Modi, a regular performer at New York and Los Angeles comedy clubs with credits in television and movies. Congregation Beth Israel’s Comedy Night and Auction is open to the community.
Voted one of the “Top 10 Comedians” in New York City by The Hollywood Reporter and Backstage, Modi headlines on the comedy circuit around the country, and has appeared in the United Kingdom, Holland, Montreal and Israel. Modi has been featured in The New York Times, Time Out New York, the New York Post, Lifestyles Magazine and The Friars Epistle. He has also contributed to “Fashion Police” in US Magazine.
Modi has appeared on: NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Friday Night Videos; CBS’s CSI:NY; HBO’s The Sopranos; Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and The USO Live Tour; E! Entertainment’s Howard Stern Show; Oxygen’s Can you Tell; BET’s 10th Anniversary of Comic View; and METRO Channel’s New Joke City with Robert Klein.
Modi has played leading roles in two films: Waiting for Woody Allen, which won the 2004 LA Film Festival; and Stand Up, a feature length film released in 2006. Modi has also appeared in Our Italian Husband with Chevy Chase and Brooke Shields; The Perfect Holiday with Queen Latifah; National Lampoon’s One, Two, Many; and Ira & Abby.
The event will include a deluxe catered dessert buffet and an open bar. The evening will also feature a live and silent auction.
