WESTFIELD, NJ — Valencia School of Music held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to celebrate its grand opening at 37 Elm Street in Downtown Westfield. The school offers singing, guitar, bass, ukulele, voice, piano, drum, brass and DJ lessons, as well as guitar repair and maintenance. Students are offered opportunities to perform in music ensembles.

Owners Jose Valencia and Kelly Bennett have long performance histories and enjoy putting on student performances in venues such as Crossroads, Cranford Dramatic Club and recital spaces throughout New Jersey. They pride themselves on giving students music instruction they deserve by focusing on process rather than product to ensure the long-term learning for developing musicians’ independence and success.

At the ribbon cutting were: Gene Jannotti, Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director;  Jeff Christakos, Downtown Westfield Corporation Economic Development Chair; Jose Valencia and Kelly Bennett, Valencia School of Music owners; Mark LoGrippo, Westfield Town Councilman; Tom Rich, DWC Economic Development Committee; and Sherry Cronin, DWC Executive Director.
