WESTFIELD, NJ — A contractor was rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after falling three stories from the roof of a Westfield home he was working on, according to Westfield Police Chief David Wayman.

The man was working on a home on Marion Avenue when he fell around 1 p.m., Wayman said. Westfield Police requested a helicopter to airlift the man to the hospital, but because of the rainy weather the request was denied.

“He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Newark University Hospital,” Wayman said.
