We have dramatically improved the condition of our roads during my time on council, but there is always more work to be done. I continue to explore ways to increase the number of roads paved each year while reducing costs to our residents, including sharing paving resources with the State of New Jersey and Union County.

Under the leadership of Mayor Andy Skibitsky, we work with all levels of government to fund road improvements in Westfield. We continue to work with Senator Tom Kean, Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz to secure grants for road paving. Union County recently announced they are paving Central Avenue from South Avenue in Westfield to Barnes & Noble in Clark.

Councilman Doug Stokes and I successfully advocated for the paving of all or parts of several streets in the Fourth Ward, including First Street, Shackamaxon, Shadowlawn and Summit Court. Work will begin shortly, and a complete list of road improvements is available on the town's website at westfieldnj.gov.

As I walk our neighborhoods to earn your vote, I keep a list of road paving requests. Please contact me at kloughlin@westfieldnj.gov to report a pothole, add your street to the paving list or contact me on any issue.
