ROSELLE, NJ — Two shooting deaths in Roselle Wednesday have been deemed murder-suicide, Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Anishalee Cortes of Newark and the shooter as 49-year-old Dominick Richards of Roselle.
Roselle Police Department patrol units responding to the 900 block of Chestnut Street at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday found the bodies of Cortes and Richards. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation involving the Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Task Force, Roselle Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit determined that Richards approached Cortes in the driveway of his home and fatally shot her before taking his own life.
A handgun was recovered from the scene. Autopsies were scheduled for Wednesday.
