WESTFIELD, NJ — A woman riding a bicycle was struck by a pickup truck at the corner of North Chestnut Street and Kimball Avenue Tuesday morning around 10 a.m.

A neighbor who was inside his house at the time said he heard a woman scream loudly. He ran outside, saw that she’d been hit and called 9-1-1, he said.

Police responded in under a minute, he said, and soon the Westfield Rescue Squad and paramedics also arrived. The woman was conscious and talking, he said. 

According to police, the cyclist's injuries were believed to be minor. She was transported to University Hospital.
