WESTFIELD, NJ — Every stylist at Patricia Perry Hair Salon, opening April 7, is a certified DevaCurl stylist. For women with curly hair, the system can be a godsend, according to owner Patricia Perry.
“It really transforms them,” said Perry. “I’ve heard women say, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe my hair is this nice.'”
Unlike Ouidad, another popular system for cutting curly hair, DevaCurl stylists cut hair while it’s dry, Perry explained. The salon also sells DevaCurl products, including cleanser (‘It’s not shampoo,’ said Perry) that’s sulfite- and paraben-free that contains mint and lavender.
In addition to DevaCurl services, Patricia Perry Salon is a full-service hair salon for women, men and children. No non-hair services are available.
“We specialize in hair, and that’s what we want to focus on,” said Perry. All of her stylists have at least 13 years of experience. Personally, Perry has worked in the business since she was a teenager, she said. She has worked as a stylist in Westfield for about six years.
“After a while, you just kind of want to own it. I had my own vision,” said Perry. “I want to have more of a relationship, rather than just a business, with my clients.”
Already, the salon has given back in the community, donating DevaCurl products and gift certificates to JCC fundraisers. (Look for one of their baskets at the JCC’s Family Fun Fest this weekend.)
Onn Friday night, March 27, the community is invited to an open house at the salon featuring a DJ, door prizes and champagne cocktails. Stop in from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Patricia Perry Salon is located at at 302 South Ave. East in Westfield. To make an appointment, call 908-301-1001.
