WESTFIELD, NJ — Republican Ken Donnelly will run unopposed in a special election this November for re-election to his Ward 2 Westfield Town Council seat.
Chair of the Westfield Democratic Committee Janice Siegel announced in a statement Thursday that no Democrat would run and no other resident filed for candidacy in time for Wednesday’s deadline, according to the Union County Clerk’s office.
Donnelly announced his intention to run in September.
A senior project manager for NYK Line and nine-year resident of Westfield, Donnelly was appointed to the council in May to fill the seat of Ward 2 Councilwoman Vicki Kimmins after she announced that she was moving out of state. This election will determine who serves the remaining one year of her term beginning Jan. 1.
Donnelly will appear on the General Election ballot on Nov. 8.
