WESTFIELD, NJ - On Wednesday, July 25, Westfield was truly in “happening” mode when more than 2,600 enthusiastic runners gathered on East Broad and Elm Street for the 11th Annual 5K and Pizza Extravaganza. Folks from 14 states throughout the country donned their running shoes and participated in one of Westfield’s signature events.
The event was organized by the Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC), and supported by: Platinum Sponsor TRINITAS Regional Medical Center; Silver Sponsors: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Overlook Medical System, BARNABAS HEALTH, and Stop & Shop; Bronze Sponsors: UBS, Capital One Bank, Westfield Pediatric Dental Group, Northwestern Mutual, Wells Fargo Advisors, Drew & Rogers, JAG Physical Therapy, Creative Dental Care, P.A., and The Alternative Press.Com. The winning runner was Chris Croff of Montclair who finished with a time of 15:.29.42. Ryan Scrudato of Westfield finished second with a time of 16:11.46 and Tom Poland of Morristown finished third at 16:26.43. The fastest female was Caroline Williams of Westfield, who finished with a time of 18.23.88.
All of the winners received congratulatory medals while the crowd was treated to various prizes, and special goodies from local businesses and sponsors.
