WESTFIELD, NJ — A jubilant crowd of business owners, politicians, town employees and other folks devoted to the town of Westfield turned out celebrate the season at the Downtown Westfield Corporation’s holiday open house Wednesday night, held at the historic Arcanum Hall on the corner of East Broad and Elm Streets in Westfield.
From the over-abundance of food set out on elegant tables, it appeared as though a record number of Downtown Westfield restaurant and business owners devoted time, effort and gorgeous dishes as a tribute to the community. Tables were laden with platters of sushi, quesadillas, Korean fried chicken, seafood, amuse bouche, pizza, focaccia, empanadas, wraps, quiche, cheeses, pastries, mini cupcakes, cookies and more.
“Historically, Arcanum Hall has always been known as the social meeting place for Westfield residents,” said international photographer Nadine Raphael.
As a resident of Arcanum Hall for more than 20 years, Raphael said, “Arcanum Hall was the perfect venue for the Downtown Westfield Corporation to host their holiday open house. This gave credence to consider opening the hall to others, who would enjoy a perfect celebration for any and all occasions in the presence of this historic environment.”
The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC), the management entity of the Special Improvement District, began as Main Street, Westfield, in 1993. Today, the organization is run by a staff of three (Executive Director Sherry Cronin, Assistant Executive Director Beth Brenner and Online Marketing & Social Media Expert Jamie Lemberg), a volunteer board of directors and various committees. Downtown Westfield is one of only 32 designated Main Street communities in New Jersey.
As a thoughtful holiday treat for Westfield residents and guests visiting our town, Cronin announced a holiday gift for the community: Free parking Downtown from Dec. 17 to Dec. 28.
