Downtown Westfield Halloween Festivities Postponed, Parade Canceled Due to Predicted Rain

WESTFIELD, NJ — Due to the rain forecast for Sunday, Oct. 29, the Downtown Westfield Trick-or-Treating and Costume Contest has been moved to Monday, Oct. 30, the Downtown Westfield Corporation announced Friday.

Trick-or-treating at participating downtown shops and restaurants will take place after school Monday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the costume contest will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Quimby Street. 

The Optimist Club of Westfield’s annual parade (also originally scheduled for Sunday) has been canceled. Instead, emcee Michael Doyle will provide entertainment, along with appearances by the Westfield Fire Department and the Westfield Rescue Squad.

Optimist volunteers will be at the rescheduled event to provide volunteer judges and fun activities for the children. Ray Catena will also be participating and handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters. The Westfield Police Department will be assisting with public safety, according to the DWC.

The annual Costume Contest will award medals from the DWC and 32 prizes for the best costumes by downtown business sponsors in the following categories:  Ahrre's Coffee Roastery (Most Edgy), Athleta, (Most Empowering Girl), Bridget's Irish Cottage (Best Irish Jack o’Lantern), Brummers Chocolates (Sweetest), Castle Bootery Inc. Woman Struck by Car in Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot Dies

Bridgewater, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after she was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall Monday.
