The Westfield Area Y is pleased to launch the Dragonfly Program for young adults 18-26 with special/adaptive needs. The Dragonfly Program has been developed with the proceeds from Greta’s Run, a 5K Run/Walk/Roll founded in 2013 by childhood friends of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman who died from injuries sustained on 9/11/02. 

Dragonfly Classes begin in late October and are as follows:

·         Dragonfly Swim Lessons:  Saturdays, 3:00 pm -3:40 pm.  Participants will learn to swim in a small group environment and work on skills appropriate for swimmer’s ability level. 

·         Dragonfly Boxing/Striking: Wednesdays, 6:15 pm – 7:00 pm.  This class is FREE.  Danny Kaltneckar, Y Personal Trainer and Jiu-Jitsu champion, addresses the specific needs and goals of participants through the practice of Mixed Martial Arts with pads and bags.

·         Dragonfly Yoga:  Tuesdays, 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm.  This class is instructed in a relaxing environment to improve flexibility and muscle tone.  Class is designed for participants that are ambulatory.  Parents and caregivers are welcome to participate.
