The Westfield Area Y is pleased to launch the Dragonfly Program for young adults 18-26 with special/adaptive needs. The Dragonfly Program has been developed with the proceeds from Greta’s Run, a 5K Run/Walk/Roll founded in 2013 by childhood friends of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman who died from injuries sustained on 9/11/02.
Dragonfly Classes begin in late October and are as follows:
· Dragonfly Swim Lessons: Saturdays, 3:00 pm -3:40 pm. Participants will learn to swim in a small group environment and work on skills appropriate for swimmer’s ability level.
· Dragonfly Boxing/Striking: Wednesdays, 6:15 pm – 7:00 pm. This class is FREE. Danny Kaltneckar, Y Personal Trainer and Jiu-Jitsu champion, addresses the specific needs and goals of participants through the practice of Mixed Martial Arts with pads and bags.
· Dragonfly Yoga: Tuesdays, 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm. This class is instructed in a relaxing environment to improve flexibility and muscle tone. Class is designed for participants that are ambulatory. Parents and caregivers are welcome to participate.
The Westfield Area Y accepts Easter Seals. Please contact Ben Nanna directly at 908-233-2700 x279 or email email@example.com for more information about the program, to register, or to volunteer.
