SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Signs of spring are slowly popping up throughout New Jersey which means the hot and humid days of summer — and the non-stop running of home and office cooling systems — are just around the corner.

According to Mike Iarrapino, owner of Edison Heating and Cooling, spring is the best time of year to have units checked and, if necessary, replaced.

“Efficiency is so important; air conditioning units should be checked prior to the summer months. Those that are over 15 years old should be replaced before the scorching temperatures hit,” Iarrapino said, adding, “You don't want to be in the position when, on a humid 95-degree day, your system decides to break down.”

While it is more cost-effective to having cooling units replaced during the pre-summer months, Iarrapino is encouraging home and business owners to act now, telling TAPinto that, due to the current healthcare crisis, supplies may be limited.

“Because of COVID, the supply chain is still behind on production with many popular models on national back order and others simply not available,” Iarrapino said. “Having units checked and replaced now is not only cost-effective due to increased prices and reduced availability but will also mean less aggravation in the heat of summer.”

For those with fairly new units, Iarrapino states that regular maintenance, which include cleaning filters and coils along with adequate refrigerant, is essential when it comes to ensuring units last longer and run more efficiently.

“A system that is not running properly will have reduced capacity and use more energy,” he said. “Routine maintenance will, in the end, cost less and prolong the life of your equipment.”

Edison Heating and Cooling, added Iarrapino, is dedicated to ensuring that all customers get the best possible system at the lowest price; spring promotions are currently available on the company's website along with thousands of dollars in potential state and manufacturer rebates and incentives.

“What sets us apart is our dedication, reliability, integrity and great workmanship. With us, you aren’t buying an air conditioning or a heating system, you’re buying into a company and its dedicated employees,” he said. “We stand by our products, our work, and we go out of the way for our customers. The awards and the reviews we have received prove that.”

In addition to providing state-of-the-art service, Edison Heating and Cooling, is committed to ensuring customer and employee safety during the ongoing healthcare crisis. Over the past year, said Iarrapino, the company has stepped up its safety protocols; technicians are required to wear a mask, gloves and booties upon entering a home or business and a screening process is in place to ensure the customers are symptom-free prior to arrival.

“We are dedicated to providing a service to our customers while ensuring that everyone remains healthy and safe,” he said.
